Spotted Lanternfly Eradication – Call for Volunteers

November 22, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

There has been a lot of recent talk about the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF), and for good reason! The invasive species has the ability to cause devastation to our local agriculture.

LHPRISM, the organization leading the fight against the SLF, is calling for volunteers to help eradicate this terrible pest.

The very important activities on this particular outing will be to clear brush and scrape SLF egg masses. It will mean working in an area with thorny vegetation (e.g. multiflora rose, barberry) and the recommended clothing is work gloves, pants, long sleeved tops, and boots.

In addition to weather-appropriate clothing and drinking water, volunteers are asked to bring lopper and hand pruners, and if you have a telescoping pole for painting ceilings that will be helpful as well. Nitrile gloves and baggies will be provided onsite.
